Utility Wear

Utility that does not go away with the passing of time, an expression that evolves with time

"Having utility" is always an important concept that remains central in our making of products.  This is a feature that can be particularly important for outdoor products that are often used in harsh weather environments.  The first time I encountered products that were laminated with waterproof breathable material was when I was a teenager.  At that time, I had a keen interest in outdoor goods, and I had a special attraction to things that were made for a specific reason, which included mountain parkas and snow wear.  I knew from personal experience about their high functionality and comfort.  Another big attraction this material possessed was its timelessness.  With proper care, its functional features have the ability to maintain its high performance over many years.

On the other hand, we continue our exploration of materials that change their appearance beautifully over time.  Fabrics derived from spinning natural fibers, fabrics that are woven in a manner where they have an uneven surface texture, or materials that evolve to highlight a unique character about them that develops with more day-to-day use.  We create new product by combining such materials with the previously mentioned material that has a capability to maintain its functionality.  I'm very interested to see how these newly created products will age over the next 10 to 20 years.
