WMV VISVIM KOBE

Nov 30th (Sat.) '24 Grand Opening

On November 30th (Sat.), we will open WMV VISVIM KOBE in the Chartered Building, a historic architectural site that stands along the Kaigandori street in Kobe.  The building was constructed in 1938 and was built to be the Kobe branch of the British financial institution, Chartered Bank.  It is one of the modern buildings that symbolize the foreign settlement area in Kobe.  

Many of the elements that make up the space are original details from the time construction was completed that include the profound stonemasonry reminiscent of those times, as well as the large wooden revolving door that shows signs of many years of use.  The primary floor space consists of a two-story atrium providing high ceilings with an open feeling that is detailed with several large vertical windows that fill the room with a pleasant natural light.  This store will feature a number of examples of handwork that highlight the skills of craftsmen who emphasize the merits of natural materials, including the rotating glass fixtures encased with an African Bubinga hardwood that has a beautiful color and unique grain, a counter made with layered Oya stone that possesses a beautiful pale green color to it, as well as fusuma sliding doors adorned with a checkered pattern created by using Katazurizome, a traditional dyeing technique.  It is a space where one can enjoy a new harmony that exists between the building and the fixtures as well as interiors that is in contrasting style from some of our previous stores.  

This store location will stock visvim and WMV products but will also have products available from Indigo Camping Trailer, CONTRARY DEPT, and little cloud coffee, which makes it the first store to feature all the lines in the Kansai area.  We sincerely hope you will stop by if you are in the area.  We look forward to your visit soon.
